Englefield House
A rich history lies behind Englefield House near Pangbourne in Berkshire, a private residence owned by Richard Benyon, MP for Newbury, whose family and ancestors made careful efforts to maintain and conserve the late Elizabethan stately home.
Helen James Productions covered the use of Englefield House for films such as Easy Virtue starring Colin Firth and Jessica Biel, and also Agatha Christie’s Marple, starring Julia McKenzie as super sleuth Jane Marple in ‘A Pocketful of Rye’.
The house stands on a large working estate with one of the last remaining deer parks in Berkshire. Apart from welcoming film producers, Englefield House gardens are open to the public and it also hires out its conference facilities.
