Jane Austen's House Museum
Jane Austen’s House and Museum at Chawton near Alton in Hampshire has worked closely with Helen James Productions to explore and promote through informative video features the drama productions, education projects and inspiration that Jane Austen’s home at Chawton brought to her writing.
It was during her last eight years in this charming 17th Century home in Hampshire that Jane Austen brought to fruition her six best known novels, Sense and Sensibility, Pride and Prejudice, Northanger Abbey, Emma, Mansfield Park and Persuasion.
Jane Austen’s House and Museum is working on a wide range of new activities to improve the interpretation of the life and times of Jane Austen, including a new learning centre, thanks to a substantial grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund. The Museum and gardens are open throughout the year.
