Medb Films - Jan Dunn/Elaine Wickham
Helen James Productions caught up with Ramsgate-based Medb Films on the set of their new production ‘The Calling’ starring Brenda Blethyn and Susannah York, for a feature about the South’s independent filmmakers for broadcast news.
Producer Elaine Wickham and writer/director Jan Dunn talked about their successes including ‘Gypo’ starring Paul McGann which won Outstanding Achievement in Production at the 2005 British Independent Film Awards, and ‘Ruby Blue’ which attracted Hollywood star Bob Hoskins to the lead role and was also acclaimed as the Best UK Feature by the London Independent Film Festival.
As independent filmmakers Medb Films is successfully leading the way, and despite international connections, still recognises the distinct advantages of using resources and film locations close to home.
