Julie Walters - Mamma Mia! The Movie

The incredibly talented and versatile Hollywood actor Meryl Streep gave a memorable interview about Mamma Mia! The Movie produced by Universal Pictures to Helen James Productions as part of the build up to what has now become the highest grossing film of all time in the UK.

As well as filming on location in Greece, the film also used the new 007 stage at Pinewood and what was clear was how much Meryl Streep enjoyed making the movie alongside co-stars, Pierce Brosnan, Julie Walters, and Colin Firth.

Helen James Productions was also among the few television journalists to interview Julie Walters who revealed how she was initially star-struck by working with Meryl.  She also talked about properly learning the correct versions of Abba songs and also the challenges posed by a dance sequence for one musical number that started filming at Pinewood and finished in Greece!  These interviews, along with those with all the cast was tailored for news outlets across all ITV’s regions, and used by Universal for its nationwide coverage including special charity preview screenings in cinemas across the country.

The comments of Colin Rawling and Simon Hewlett of Universal Pictures International kindly sent us this testimonial on the work:

“Her work on Mamma Mia! The Movie was unsurpassed by any other journalist we worked with during the film’s publicity... Mamma Mia! The Movie finally toppled Titanic to become the highest grossing film of all time in the UK, and we at Universal Pictures are under no illusion that Helen’s work (both in front of and behind the camera) played an imperative part in achieving this phenomenal milestone.”
