Neil McEnery-West

Neil McEnery-West has been making films for over 10 years since graduating from Southampton Solent University.   Helen James Productions met Neil and screenwriter Anthony Woodruffe to find out more about their short film ‘Undertow’ for a feature broadcast on regional ITV news.

‘Undertow’ is about two people violently separated by a tragic event and their personal journey as they try to come to terms with their loss.  It has gone on to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival and has been shortlisted for three international ‘Best Short Film’ awards.

Fresh from these successes, director Neil McEnery-West is working once again with Woodruffe and also script editor Kate Leys on his next feature film, ‘Alpha’ which is an urban horror/thriller exploring the themes of losing loved ones, community terror and powerlessness.  He also has a second project called ‘Dipping’ in the pipeline.
