UK Theatres

Helen James Productions has worked closely with a variety of regional theatres, finding new and imaginative ways to promote musicals, pantomimes, plays, concerts, and to interview their lead actors, directors, choreographers, and musicians for television news and more recently for use on the worldwide web.  This exposure raises a theatre’s public profile, increases interest in a particular production and taps into the joy of live performances for new as well as traditional theatre audiences in the regions.

We’ve filmed at the Yvonne Arnaud in Guildford, Theatre Royal in Windsor, The Mayflower in Southampton, The Anvil and the Haymarket Theatre in Basingstoke, The Theatre Chipping Norton, The Mill at Sonning, The Hexagon in Reading, the New Theatre Oxford and the Oxford Playhouse, New Victoria Theatre at Woking, Wycombe Swan in Buckinghamshire and Salisbury Playhouse in Wiltshire to name just a few.

On those stages, we’ve interviewed actors, singers, writers, directors like Richard Wilson, Russ Abbot, Susannah York, Martin Shaw, Pauline Collins, John Alderton, Maureen Lipman, Tommy Steele, Graeme Garden, Denis Norden, Matthew Kelly, Joe Pasquale, Henry Winkler, Linda Gray, Tony Hadley, The Osmonds, Status Quo... the list goes on.

A lot of the publicity from these interviews and reports also benefitted other theatre venues in Canterbury, Brighton, Folkestone, Bournemouth, Southend-on-Sea and Chichester.  Not only that, they helped in the promotion and marketing of plays and performances touring other theatres throughout England and Wales.

So how does putting your next planned production at your theatre in front of a camera actually work?  Take the Watermill Theatre near Newbury in Berkshire, as a case study.
