Spooks

NBC Universal and Kudos Film and TV commissioned Helen James Productions to produce two special DVD features for the ninth series of the critically acclaimed, Spooks (BBC1).

HJP also created an EPK, DVD marketing interviews with the cast and crew and a video to promote the DVD on retailers websites.

A dark secret unleashes the ultimate betrayal in this new series. HJP went on to the grid to interview Peter Firth (Sir Harry Pearce), Nicola Walker (Ruth Evershed), Shazad Latif (Tariq Masood) and newcomers Max Brown (Dimitri Levendis) and Sophia Myles (Beth Bailey).

The new additions to the hit spy drama really ruffle some feathers and intrigue and betrayal is at the heart of the new storylines. Friendships are tested this series and the depth of deceit leads to an unprecedented game of cat and mouse for the Spooks. Section D is left wondering who can really be trusted. We analyse Harry and Ruth's relationship and the cost of being a spy.

We also interviewed Richard Armitage (Lucas North) about his character's journey and filmed a dramatic scene in a children's playground in London - as Lucas North confronts his nemesis, Vaughn Edwards, played by Iain Glen. Laila Rouass (Maya) told us she was delighted to work with Richard Armitage again and that their scenes were very passionate!

HJP also filmed the dramatic climax of the series on a London roof top. The Spooks 9 DVD is released on 28th February 2011.

Andrew Woodhead: Executive Producer (Kudos Film and TV)

"It was a joy working with Helen. Her passion and enthusiasm for the show was second to none and the resulting behind the scenes pieces were just brilliant. They will make this new dvd boxset of Spooks a very special and hopefully very popular one. I would recommend Helen very, very highly. She is just brilliant at her job."
