Winchester Cathedral

Winchester Cathedral has welcomed visitors and pilgrims from across the world for more than 1,000 years and when Hollywood production crews arrived, they too were made welcome.

Helen James Productions worked with the Cathedral to gain exclusive access to film behind the scenes of The Da Vinci Code starring Tom Hanks and Elizabeth: The Golden Age starring Cate Blanchett, for ITV regional news in 2006 and 2007.

The first Christian church was built on the site in the 7th Century and in the 21st Century Winchester Cathedral has embraced every opportunity to encourage tourists and worshippers to admire its unique heritage and spectacular architecture, to be inspired or moved spiritually.

Evensong is still sung in the choir of the Cathedral daily, there are regular art exhibitions.  It also holds a Christmas Market each year and a seasonal outdoor ice skating rink operates in the Cathedral grounds too – popular events which Helen James covered for local TV news, even picking up an ice skating lesson from Robin Cousins.
